What will I receive as part of the UFS franchise system?
You and your manager will receive up to two weeks of training at our corporate location. You will receive up to three days of onsite help at your own location around the time of your Grand Opening. You will have access to all UFS trademarks and our unique operational tools, including exclusive inventory management software and a copy of our confidential operations manual to help you run your business effectively.
What type of experience or background do I need to have?
Though you do not have to have prior experience in the furniture industry, you should have good sales, customer relations and supervisory skills. Retail experience can be a plus, but as long as you have a solid work ethic and are a hard worker, we can train you how to operate your own UFS franchise. We do, of course, also expect that you have the right amount of capital to invest in the franchise.
How much will the UFS franchise investment cost me?
The estimated required investment for a start-up franchise ranges from $117,150 to $220,000 including a franchise fee of $25,000. As with any new business venture, it’s important that you have the capital needed to adequately fund your new business.
Are there ongoing fees paid to the franchisor?
Franchisees will be required to pay a royalty equal to 5% of gross sales. These fees allow us to fund our ongoing support services and the continued development of product lines, procedures, training programs, and systems upgrades.
Are there any advertising fees?
Franchisees will be required to spend 6% of gross sales on local market advertising, which may include a regional cooperative marketing program. Franchisees are also required to contribute up to 2% of their gross revenues toward a system marketing fund. Funds are used to develop marketing strategies to promote the UFS brand and fund the creative costs to develop local franchise marketing materials.
Is financing available?
No, we do not offer direct financing to franchisees. We may be able to provide references to qualified financing or lending agencies, on a case-by-case basis.
What is the term of the franchise agreement?
The initial term of your franchise agreement is fifteen years, with two subsequent five-year successor terms.
